Shaving Know How – Range Explanation

It’s something you probably do everyday as automatically as dressing. You reach in the cabinet for your razor and foam or gel and shave the way you always have – the way you saw your dad shave. You see it as a necessary chore, but a chore all the same. But are you doing it right? Does it need to be a chore? And does it have to leave your skin feeling like its been attacked with a machete?

The simple answer is no. The experts here at King of Shaves believe a combination of the correct shaving ‘software‘ (gel, oil or serum), ‘hardware‘ (your razor, or better still, the Azor) and technique will give you a smooth, pain-free shave. Shaving is something to be enjoyed, not endured! We’ve put together a simple guide to help you achieve ‘The World’s Best Shave’ with our Prime Shave Protect PSP regime, along with some Top Tips, key Dos and Don’t and a list of FAQs. Range

There is a baffling array of products on the market. So how do you know which one is for you? And should you use a face scrub and a moisturiser? Aren’t they a bit ‘girlie’?

The simple answer is that it’s never too soon to look after your skin and it’s not just for girls. In fact, the girls are streets ahead of us men and it’s time we caught up! Looking after your skin does not mean acquiring a huge array of products to rival the woman in your life. It just means paying attention to your skin’s specific needs.

We’ve tried to address some of the most common questions asked about shaving, recommending specific products within the answers.

You make so many gels, oils and serums. What’s the difference and how do I know which one to use?
All of our shave gels have a low foam formula and all are suitable for sensitive skin and unless otherwise noted, all are dermatologically tested and are unfragranced. Here’s a brief outline of the key benefits of the different types of ‘software’ products, formulations and technical innovations:

Shave Gel
It does what it says on the tin, use a small amount (around the size of a 10 pence / 1 dollar coin) and follow the instructions on packs. Ensure you rinse all the gel thoroughly off after shaving. Perhaps the closest product we make in terms of how you use it compared to traditional canned shaving foams / gels. Though obviously they perform much much better.

Shave Oil
Our first shaving product was a shave oil. Compact and with absolutely no lather, when used as instructed you’ll get an amazing shave with just a few drops. And there’s no need to rinse the oil off after shaving, just pat your skin dry and the oil will help condition and moisturise your skin. Obviously the compact size minimises the effect on the environment and makes it ideal for travelling, the gym etc, but there’s no reason why you can’t use it as your daily shave preparation. Many people who work at King of Shaves do! For an exceptionally close shave, first apply 2-3 drops of oil and massage into your skin and then apply a shave gel or serum on-top.

Shave Serum / Hybrid Shave Oil
Almost as compact as our shave oils, they combine the great shaving properties of our shave gels with the skin conditioning benefits of our oils. Like the shave gels, ensure you thoroughly rinse off all the product after shaving.

Shave Cream
A more traditional feeling product, our Shave Cream provides a reach creamy lather but it utilises an advanced formulation including LubriNyl-12 (see ALS below) for optimum razor performance and glide.

Cooling / Menthol / Supercooling
These products contain menthol which is used to give a cooling sensation on the skin as well as giving it a wake up kick! Avoid it if you class your skin as extra sensitive as menthol can, in rare cases, be an irritant.

Natural / Unmentholated
A very similar formulation to our Cooling / Menthol / Supercooling products, but without the menthol. Some people have very sensitive skin so if this is you, we recommend these products.

Antibacterial
Products designed to help people with spot or blemish prone skin. Contains antibacterial ingredients as well as Tea Tree to help fight spot causing bacteria without stripping the skin of its essential oils.

Dual Delivery System (DDS)
Delivers nourishing skin actives including Vitamin E and Grapeseed Oil throughout the shave.

micro Dual Delivery System (mDDS)
An advanced version of DDS that delivers pore-sized particles of nourishing skin actives including Vitamin E and Grapeseed Oil direct to the skin.

Micro-Magnetically Enhanced (MME)
Formulated with tiny magnetic particles in the gel that stick to the blade – thus providing you with an additional layer or protection and lubrication between the skin and the blade.

Advanced Lubrication System (ALS)
Contains LubriNyl-12 which behaves like a micro-thin layer of ball bearings on the skin that further help reduce friction and razor drag.

The Alpha range is the first step into the world of King of Shaves and comprises of a range of shave oils and gels that will not cost the earth but deliver great results.
