Since King of Shaves launched its Original Shaving Oil (AlphaOil) in 1993, the company has always been concerned to play its part in minimising negative environmental impact. The shaving oil, which was sold in a 10ml PET (recyclable) bottle with (recyclable) card backing has maintained its green credentials ever since, with the vast majority of the packaging being recyclable.

The multiple award winning AlphaGel, launched in 1996 is 100% recyclable, and as well as being great for sensitive skin, is far and away the most environmentally sensitive shaving gel on the market. Conventional (or as we term them, ‘can’ventional) shaving gels are 100% un-recyclable, and must be landfilled. King of Shaves has a strong commitment to work with local manufacturers as much as possible, indeed many of our suppliers are within a 40 mile radius of King of Shaves’ HQ in Beaconsfield, including the companies involved in manufacturing and packaging our new Azor ‘hybrid synergy’ system razor.

The Azor is the world’s first razor to take the best of systems (peformance, minimal waste) and marry this up with the best of disposables (much less energy needed to make the handles, no need for unnecessary batteries). The factory that makes the Azor handles has its hi-tech machinery cooled by water from a natural well, and all waste from making the Azor (the pieces of PP and elastomer) are recycled. In fact, our commitment to the environment doesn’t stop with the Azor primary components, all the secondary packaging is as minimal as we can make it, and made from recyclable and already recycled materials. Unlike Gillette, we don’t believe we’ll be ever up for a ‘Golden Dump’ award.
